The History

HISTORY OF THE FIRM

Founded in 1995, Hunt, Hamlin & Ridley was founded by three aspiring attorneys, Ronald C. Hunt, Raymond L. Hamlin and Terry Ridley.  They first met when they were working at a small firm in Newark, NJ in the late 80’s.

Upon its first opening day, HHR started out with three small offices in Newark’s Military Park building.  Several years later they grew to occupy the entire 16th floor of the building with several associates, of-counsel attorneys, and support staff working at the firm.  In the late 2,000’s, HHR expanded and opened an a new location in Paterson, New Jersey, to better serve its clientele in townships located in NJ’s northern counties.

As friends and colleague, Ronald, Raymond and Terry, were determined to create a firm where they would provide the best possible results for their clients while serving as a “home” for many young attorneys who were not provided an opportunity to learn and grown at larger competing firms.

The results have been tremendous.  Today, Hunt, Hamlin & Ridley has grown to become highly successful and is now recognized as the largest black-owned law firm in the State of New Jersey.
