Distinctive pants, social media post cited as key evidence in Passaic drive-by murder trial

Prosecutors haven’t provided a motive or murder weapon yet in the case of a 2017 drive-by shooting in Passaic that killed Hansel Castillo. 

Instead, as testimony continued on Tuesday, they cited a Facebook page and a distinctive pair of pants as two key piece of evidence against defendant Chrstian Reynoso. 

The city police detective who led the investigation, Ray Rodriguez, took the witness stand and testified that investigators received an anonymous tip days after the May 15, 2017 shooting on Federal Street that led them to Reynoso’s Facebook page.

Although the page did not contain any information that directly implicated Reynoso in the shooting, it was enough to make him “a person of interest,” Rodriguez said during the trial in state Superior Court in Paterson.
